About Our Owner/Producers
April began her career in production in Community Programming, first at Kamloops Cablenet then as the youngest Community Programming Manager for Comox Valley Cablenet. After nine years she moved on and put her diverse talents to work as the Director of Photography for ‘Nice Fish Series’ and ‘The New Canoe” series, and editor for the CTV documentary ‘The Vanishing Housewife’, the Bravo documentary, ‘Sounds Like Motown”, and the APTN series, ‘Down2Earth’.
As a freelancer, April worked for CTV, CBC, Global, Sports Page, Prime, CHEK, and Chum Television in various capacities over the years. She was sought after for key positions because of her strong reputation as a creative, diverse storyteller. April was also a director for The New VI television news and helped launched the station in October 2001. She directed talk shows, music performances, and social issue and arts based roundtables.
In 2006, April took a dramatic turn from news broadcast to follow her passion to direct documentaries. Her Directorial debut required April to draw upon her foundation skills as a cameraperson and storyteller allowing for intimate access to the unseen world of prostitution. The Leo nominated documentary, The Brothel Project aired on Global Television in June 2010.
April's most recent documentary, Father Figures, was a intimate production with April sharing directing and producing credits. She was also the Director of Photography. Father Figures was broadcast on Knowledge Network in 2013 and the documentary was selected for competition at DOXA (Documentary Film Festival Vancouver) and for the prestigious International Documentary Festival Amsterdam.
Kal has been producing professional websites, graphics and video since the age of 16. Before graduating from film school in 2000 Kal had already won multiple awards for his short films. In 2000 he was hired as an editor/director at ELM, a midsized commercial production house in Vancouver where he worked until 2005. During this time he produced over 100 large & small commercial projects including the hit music video Ride by Syndicate, which was the most requested music video on PMC for six weeks straight.
In 2005 he moved to Victoria BC and started a multimedia company specializing in rich media web design, digital special effects and motion graphics.
